Title 1 School

In 2015, Benny Benson became a Title 1 school.  Title 1 is a federal program under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act that provides supplementary funding to improve academic achievement for low-income students.  The focus is on closing the achievement gap between high- and low-performing children, especially between disadvantaged children and their more advantaged peers.  Schools are provided with Title I supplementary funding based on the percentage of students in their attendance area who qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.
