Benny Benson Proper

BENNY BENSON PROPER PROGRAM & STUDENT PROFILE

Student Profile:

This program is designed for students who have fallen behind in credits at their neighborhood school.

What does the program offer our students?

Benny Benson offers students who have fallen behind an opportunity to earn credits at an accelerated rate.  Students are strongly encouraged to return to their neighborhood school once they are back on track for their graduation goals.  Students have the benefit of smaller class sizes, extra support staff, and instruction that is differentiated based on their needs.

What are the expectations of the program?

Attendance in the program is mandatory.  It is expected that students will attend and be on time for all scheduled classes.

Students are assigned points to earn credits.  Students are expected to earn a minimum of 160 points per rating period (each month).  The program is self-paced, allowing students to enroll in their next class immediately after completing a class.

Students are expected to follow the school-wide guidelines regarding dress code, cell phones/electronic devices, and behavior.

How will Instruction be provided?

Instruction is individualized for each student based on what they need to graduate from High School.  Classwork can come in different forms, such as direct instruction, independent packet work, projects, presentations, side contracts, testing, and online classes.

How will credits be earned?

All the classwork you do will be worth points. For every 90 points of work in each class you will earn a .5 credit towards graduation. You need 22.5 credits to graduate and receive a high school diploma.
